Tiesto to Headline UPenn Spring Fling
In yet another scandal of internet news leakage, it has been confirmed that Tiesto will be headlining the University of Pennsylvania Spring Fling 2012. The concert will take place on April 13th at Franklin Field, and has yet to announce whether or not the general public will be allowed to purchase tickets. Not only is UPenn bringing the world star of Club Life to a possible personal staging, but they have also booked Passion Pit as an opener.
It is this Editor’s opinion that Universities should not be given the opportunity to book such highly sought after acts with student tuition proceeds. Especially if they intend to make said concerts closed to the public. The city of Philadelphia is host to a number of companies reliant on producing headliner live music events, and taking away a name like Tiesto for what could be another year…is devastating. Many more residents of Philadelphia, which are not students or faculty of it’s illustrious upper-level academia, are die-hard Tiesto fans. If barred from the opportunity to see one of their favorite artists so close to home, we would label their losses as nothing less than a travesty.
